Overview

Gateway Society - Services for Persons with Autism is looking for skilled communicators and problem solvers to provide direct support potentially part time and full time for youth and adults with Autism and challenging behaviours.

Some prerequisites for Residential Worker positions include:

  • Grade 12 diploma and 2 years post secondary education, preferably in behavioural sciences, social work or community social service.
  • Minimum of 6 months full time experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
  • Class 4 drivers license (unrestricted).
  • St. John Ambulance First Aid for Adult Residential Care.
  • Annual CPR re-certification.
  • 3 positive work references from human service sector.

Candidates must successfully complete the specialized Gateway Autism Training Course.

After successful completion of the Autism Training Course, applicants are required to attend and successfully complete the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) two-day training. Non-violent Crisis Intervention training and certification is provided to all staff. See Gateway Training for more details.

Most shifts are evenings, weekends and overnights.
